THE DYSLEXIC ADVANTAGE
Infinite Earth Exhibition Award of Excellence, October 2013 - January 2015 in the Smithsonian Institution’s S. Dillon Ripley Center, Washington D.C.

THE DYSLEXIC ADVANTAGE is an interactive installation that invites the viewer to become educated about what dyslexia really is. It debunks myths, states facts, and shares the little-known advantages of this often misunderstood brain variation. In a revealing interactive section, the viewer can rearrange six wooden characters to form forty-eight words. As a complement to the educational element, Madalyne shares her personal experience — a story of growing up dyslexic, being mislabeled and treated as less, and overcoming challenge after challenge. Using black and white, she draws a visual contrast between the often negative experience of dyslexia and its true benefits.
